The Pee-wee Herman Show Nominated for 3 Emmy Awards

The 2011 Emmy Nominations,  announced Thursday morning, featured nods to some recent stage productions that were filmed for HBO. Among the nominees were Broadway's "The Pee-wee Herman Show.

The show received a nomination in the category of best variety, music or comedy special, in addition to nods in technical categories. The show was filmed during its Broadway run and later aired on HBO..

The Emmy nods for "Pee-wee Herman" come shortly after the play was shut out of the Tony nominations. On Thursday, actor Phil LaMarr, who played Cowboy Curtis, tweeted to his followers: "Congratulations to everybody from THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW ON BROADWAY on the show's Emmy nominations. Screw you, Tonys!"
